The purpose of the Southern MN Crisis Nursery is to provide 24-hour care for children ages 0-12 in a safe and loving environment while supporting families who are experiencing a stressful situation.
SMNCN is an independent non profit organization run by a board of 14 volunteers. In 2015 the founding board members began the process of creating the crisis nursery in New Ulm, MN. June 19, 2017 we opened the doors of the Ivy House to serve families!! Every board member has a passion for helping the families served through the Ivy House!
One board member explained, "As a psychologist I have the privilege of working with wonderful families. Many of these families could use more support and I like being part of that solution. Being able to tell a struggling client there is a resource like SMNCN is so pleasing. In the last several years of my practice I've seen how even a few hours for a "time out" or break can really turn the tide for someone and instill hope. Also, as the mother of a 15 month old daughter whom I adore, I've experienced first hand how challenging it can be to take care of a tiny human. We all need help sometimes. It takes a village."
